How we'll start the day
Did you know you can walk around the rim of an extinct volcano just half an hour out of Christchurch?

Join me for a day in our beautiful Garden City, where we’ll combine a rewarding hike with my unique city tour showing you just how much the Christchurch Earthquake has changed the life of Cantabrians.

A born and bred Kiwi, I am proud to call Canterbury home and can't wait to share my stories with you. There is much to see and our visitors often miss the best and most interesting local spots - time to change that!

We'll start the day like all Kiwis do, with a coffee. After we meet at your chosen location, let’s ease into the day with a brew and breakfast at one of my favourite local cafes. This is a great chance to get to know each other and talk about anything extra you’d like to do today.

Afterwards, we’ll jump in the car and head off on the city tour. This takes me back! I’ve run Earthquake tours for many years and know some great locations for you to experience and understand the power of mother nature. Although the city has done well to build much of the rubble back up, there is noticeable evidence of seismic activity like raised streets and old, crumbled buildings. While we do this, you’ll get an idea of how and why the city is shadowed by those beautiful Port Hills, which are directly influenced by volcanic and earthquake activity themselves.

History of WW2
Once we’ve explored enough of the city, we’ll head towards the Port Hills for a short walk around the Banks Peninsula. Godley Head is a rewarding day track on top of 120m high cliffs, featuring beautiful coastal views and a historic defence fort. You can still explore three gun emplacements and several military buildings, thanks to the ongoing restoration work.

If you’re up for exploring the diverse history and hidden sights of Christchurch in a simple, relaxed tour, this is your trip!
